I am a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at the University of Iowa hospitals and as you may imagine the work is challenging, fast paced and really rewarding. Over the last several weeks I have taken on a new challenging role outside of the ICU--I am working as part of a team of nurses to educate people in Iowa City about the Affordable Care Act and the open enrollment, which begins today.
All across the country, workers are partnering with other Americans - the 99%- to hold anti-worker politicians accountable. Check out some of the recent actions that have taken place in Iowa, Florida, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
On November 17th, nearly 1,000 people were arrested as more than 50,000 protestors at three dozen bridges nationwide declared an "Economic Emergency for the 99%." Rallies and marches accompanied these bridge actions across more than 20 states, including AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, IA, IL, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, MT, NH, NM, NY, OH, PA, TX, VA, WA and WI.
